Ben Hogan Apex Forged Wedge Review

While Ben Hogan golf company is now owned by Callaway Golf, they are in fact still around. That said, they have not had a new club come out in around 2 years and has many people concerned that the once great golf company will soon be shelved by the giant that owns it. My suggestion? Get some of their clubs while you still can! They still have some of the best forged irons and wedges out there on the market today and I have already gave a couple reviews on them. While the days may be numbered for Ben Hogan Golf Company, their clubs are still great works of art and will forever be remembered for their simplicity and style. There are still a number of players on the PGA Tour who are contracted by Callaway that play Hogan clubs!

The Ben Hogan Apex Forged Wedges continue the long line of great golf clubs for this company. Their simple design has been used countless times over and never seams to go out of style. These wedges were designed with feedback from players on the PGA Tour and are designed not only to look good, but to play even better!

Forged from a very soft 1020 steel, and finished with a very durable, very attractive nickel/chrome finish these wedges are sure to turn heads when once you get your hands on them. Their groves are cut at the maximum size allowed by the USGA creating a lot of backspin from almost any lie.

I hit about 100 balls with this set of wedges, from the 52*, 56*, to the 60* I found one thing in common. They were soft and spun like the club wanted to rip the cover off the ball! From just off the green in the deep rough, these wedges really showed what they were made of. I hit comparison shots with other clubs in my bag and could not get them to stop on the green as fast as the Hogan Apex Forged Wedges. From the fairway I had to hit full shots with the intent of them spinning back, or hit a little dead hands shot to keep the spin low, but they were very accurate no matter what trajectory I played. From high to low these wedges kept a very consistent distance and reacted the same way each and every time.

I would suggest picking up a set of these before they are gone! The plug might be pulled soon!
