Tiger Woods makes AT&T more attractive than The Players Championship as a major
Tiger Woods was a big reason the AT&T was so successful, and why some players said it had the feeling of a "mini-major."
Tiger Woods kept the ticket prices low – $25 for a single day-ticket – much, much lower than the Players. Parking was free. At The Players, they charge you 20 bucks a day.
Tiger Woods did his bit for the kids: Those under 12 got in free, and those aged 13 to 17 paid $10.He also gave away 5,000 tickets to the military – a pretty big deal in Washington, D.C. – and provided special viewing places for them to watch the action.
It's a classier tournament than The Players, which has the atmosphere of catering exclusively to the well-heeled crowd.
